Fire Protection 2022 (Brandskydd 2022) is Sweden’s largest annual conference on building technical fire protection, which took place in Stockholm last week. BST Group was represented by our new business developer Henrik Johansson, along with Lina Åteg and Magnus Nordberg from Brandkonsulten, as well as David Tonegran from Bricon.
Henrik Johansson joined BST Group as a business developer in August. At Brandskydd 2022, he gave a lecture on new opportunities to make automatic fire suppression systems more environmentally friendly, a priority in his new role at BST Group.
-With today’s rapid technological development, there are great opportunities to adapt sprinkler systems to reduce their environmental impact. This can involve everything from replacing diesel pumps with electric pumps equipped with batteries to implementing remote digital monitoring of systems, thereby reducing the need for technicians to travel, says Henrik.
Is there anything else you would like to emphasize regarding fire suppression systems and the environment?
-What many people don’t realize is that some of today’s foam agents with fluorinated hydrocarbons are being phased out due to new EU regulations. This means that certain types of foam will not be allowed after the end of the year. In some cases, components in existing systems may need to be replaced because they could be contaminated by older foam agents.
What should you do if you are concerned about existing systems containing foam agents?
-The first step is to inspect the system on-site to get a better basis for decision-making, and then take any necessary actions thoughtfully. If you have concerns, feel free to contact me, and we can discuss further.
At Fire Protection 2022, BST Group was also represented by Brandkonsulten’s Magnus Nordberg, who lectured on new requirements in occupational safety legislation, as well as Brandkonsulten’s Lina Åteg and Bricon’s David Tonegran, who have been planning this year’s conference as part of the program committee since February.
-This year’s conference was one of the best we’ve experienced, both in terms of the program and its participants. We will work even harder to top this next year. On behalf of the program committee, we would like to thank everyone who came and made Brandskydd 2022 a fantastic conference, says David Tonegran.
